Oh, my goodness, who would have ever thought that a simple library search would bring up so much about the importance of mind mapping. There is mind mapping for the student, mind mapping for the professional and even mind mapping to sort out your week! Some mind map techniques require software have entire books dedicated on how to develop the perfect, structured and tidy maps, such as (Hillar, 2012) mindmapping with free mind. I particularly opened this online book as I thought it might justify my own rather crazy, messy freehand style of mind mapping. Sadly, it did not. Maybe then Mind Mapping for Dummies (Rustler & Buzan, 2012) Is more up my ally. It certainly did provide some good justification regarding how a mind map is unique to the person creating it, hence it may not make a whole lot of sense to someone else (Rustler & Buzan, 2012). Phew, this is what you may indeed think when looking at mine! Nonetheless, my mind map does indeed give me a visual to help organise and structure what I am learning about and thinking. I’m pretty sure that is exactly what a mind map is supposed to do. Therefore, this makes sense to me and is personal to how I learn best.
